Concept Test Survey
From giving the survey to 20 people, a majority of them liked design number 1. Though this design may have been the most favored, it did not come without flaws. Some people did not like that the design was powered by electricity. People did like the dividers for the different types of fruits. Some people liked the third design because of the simplicity, for it is a bin that stores ice around it and keeps the fruit cold. Although the test survey shows that design number one is the best, we will need to think hardly and diligently which solution will solve the problem the best, but also keep it in budget and in the time frame.
Poster Walk Results and Summary
The poster walk gave some great ideas. There were suggestions as well as constructive critics. Ideas included adding straps to carry the device, and more sections. We need to test the prototype to see if the fruit will freeze at the bottom, and some people asked if the fruit will defrost, and will the ice reach the fruit in the middle.
Decision Matrix for Final Design
Winning Design Sketch with Modifications
Final Design Description
This is our final design for our fruit chilling product, and it takes the design made by Gavin McCabe and modifies it slightly. The basic design is three divided treys for fruit to sit, and around the treys will sit a tank with a hole and cap on top. To keep the fruit cold, you pour water into the tank at the end of the night, and put it into the Walk in freezer at a restaurant. In the morning, servers will take it out and the water has become a block of ice which will last all day in the sun. This keeps the fruit cold and keeps it from spoiling.
