Part one

In part one of the lab we had to measure the mass, volume, and density of different kinds of spheres. Steel, glass, plastic, and wood.
To find the density we had to find the mass and volume. To find mass we used a scale. To find volume we had to measure the diameter with a dalcaliper and use formulas. To get density it is love, mass divided by volume.
We had to convert everything from pounds/in^3 to grams/cm^3. This is because the paper told us to and most mass and volume and density is measured in SI measurement system.

Part two

In this part we had to find the mass and volume of wooden blocks. Also we had to find the relationships between mass and volume for density. The slope of the graph is the density of the wood. Also, the mass does not change and it keeps going up at the same rate. The slope is linear because one volume is not different from the others.
Part three
We needed to find the mass of the toy wheels and little people. We did to see if they were made of the same material. We found the mass by putting the toys in a graduated cylinder with water and measuring the displacement. The before and the after of the water. I think the plastic used is acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene. jeez that is a mouth full. This is it because luggage handles and tool housings have the same feel as the toys. This is similar to part one because you are fining the mass and volume and density. But n this part we used different kinds of measuring tools.

Conclusion
In this lab I learned how to find density, volume and mass. When you measure directly it can be hard if there are different kinds of shapes. but if it is indirect then there is no limitation. Indirect is more accurate because if it is direct you can make and error with the formulas. You might put a number in the wrong spot or put the wrong number in the right spot or not cube correctly or not multiply or divide correctly. To find the material you can match it with other densities of other materials. Weight is the amount of gravity pushing down on you and mass is the amount of matter in an object.
